"Lakshmi is the goddess of wealth, fortune, beauty,
prosperity, and abundance. She is also known as Shreedevi, the
goddess who bestows sovereignty, splendor, and royal authority. As
Bhoodevi she is the earth goddess who provides food, clothing, and
shelter. It is believed that Lakshmi was churned out of the ocean of
milk.
Hindus
believe that she chose Lord Vishnu to be her consort
because he selflessly carried out his duties as the upholder of
cosmic laws to preserving the universe. The goddess is also known as
Canchala, the fickle one, as she does not stay too long in the same
place meaning to say that one can never take prosperity for granted.
Money comes and goes."
